The Author

My name is Ivo Silvestro and I am – not necessarily in this order – a husband and father, a journalist, a teacher, and a philosopher. Mainly, I like thinking and writing things that help me think better.

For those who are interested in more details, I was born in 1978 in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. I studied philosophy at the University of Milan: a degree in theoretical philosophy, with a thesis on "seeing as" in Wittgenstein, and a PhD in philosophy of law with a dissertation on the role of conceptual metaphors in the debate on gene patents. About 20 years ago I started writing professionally and I'm now a scientific and cultural journalist at a Swiss local newspaper (laRegione). I'm also a lecturer at the Università della Svizzera italiana, where I try to teach second-year students how to write.

I read widely, watch films, eat ice cream and drink tea (both in any season).

I'm not very active on social media, but at least I have a presence, so here are some links: LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Bluesky.
